In the wake of recent terrorist attack on the Army base camp in Uri sector of J&K, the Delhi police has issued an advisory directing its officers to ensure maximum security during the coming festival season in the national capital. The advisory to this effect, issued by deputy commissioner of police (special cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, said that the officers should brief their concerned staff to keep an utmost vigil and mai-ntain heightened alert during the coming festivals of Navratras, Durga Puja, Ramlila, Dussehra, Diwali, Chhat celebratio-ns and Valmiki Jayanti.

The advisory said that a watch should be kept at places of celebrations, during processions and at places of high foot-fall areas like malls, hotels, busy markets, hospitals, schools, colleges, multi-plexes, temples, popular restaurants, airport, Metro stations, railway stations and bus depots.

It said that Delhi, being the capital of the country, was vulnerable and always a possible target of terrorist groups, especially during the festive season wh-en there is huge gathering of people in markets and at places of celebrations.

Mr Yadav told the officers that they should take appropriate preventive and cautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident. “It is also reiterated that high foot-fall areas should be monitored and patrolled. CCTV systems must be checked and monitored regularly,” the advisory said.
