In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for cleanliness drive, the AAP government is all set to launch a mobile application, called “Swachchh Delhi-Swachchh Bharat,” in the next few days. The government will make a fervent appeal to the Delhiites to upload photographs or videos of places which lack hygiene so that prompt action can be taken to clean all such places.

A highly-placed source said that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is himself monitoring how to proceed with the issues related to cleanliness of the city. “He wants clean and healthy city. So, he can go to any extent to make this city a healthy place.”

Even Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Mr Kejriwal are going to formally launch a high-voltage “Clean Delhi” campaign from November 22. Once the campaign is launched, the government is likely to press in a dedicated team to ensure any complaints related to cleanliness in any part of the city are addressed to promptly by the agencies concerned.

The source said that the government will coordinate with the three municipal bodies, NDMC and Cantonment Board to make sure not a single complaint is left unattended. There are indications that the party may even rope in its volunteers to see that city was cleaned at the earliest. The government is also going to fix-up area wise responsibility of multiple agencies for the Clean Delhi drive. “And prompt action would be recommended against those officers whose performance will not be up to the mark.”

The government is also going to issue an advisory to all its departments to keep their workplaces neat and clean. “Our focus will also be on schools, colleges, hospitals, dispensaries and other places which are frequented upon by large people.”
