With the arrest of two persons, including a retired BSF constable, the Delhi police on Saturday claimed to have busted a module which used to procure arms licences from Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir for their clients by allegedly submitting forged documents.

The accused have been identified as Ram Kishan (55), a sepoy with the Border Security Force who opted for retirement in 2011, and Yoginder Singh (50), who is in the business of oil tankers, the police said.

On the basis of inputs, the Delhi police’s crime branch took up the matter and a list was sent to the licensing authority Nagaland for verification and report.

The authority’s report disclosed that 65 people, whose names were on the list, had procured arms licences by forged documents, showing that they were residents of Dimapur in Nagaland, joint commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Yadav said. It further came to light that some of them continued holding those licences, despite the authorities cancelling them.

During investigation, it emerged that at least three persons who were arrested by crime branch last year were actually part of this module. Their investigation led the police to Kishan and Singh and the duo was nabbed. During interrogation, they told the police about having obtained arms licences with similar trick in Jammu and Kashmir too.
