M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, the upcoming biopic on Indian cricket’s limited overs captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is all set to release on September 30. The swashbuckling batsman and Sushant Singh Rajput, who is playing Dhoni on screen, have been busy promoting the film in full swing.

The duo recently met up with megastar Rajinikanth and spoke about the upcoming movie. A source told us that the meeting had been planned much in advance, after having taken permission from the South star. “He (Rajinikanth) was told about it well in advance, and he agreed to allot time to meet them,” said the source.

Rajinikanth was shown the trailer of M.S. Dhoni too, and he liked it, sharing his feedback with the team and chatting with them for a while. Thalaiva, however, didn’t know much about the film. He asked Dhoni about the release date, and was surprised to discover that the date was just around the corner. He also enquired if the movie was dubbed in Tamil and if they had already seen the film. Dhoni informed Rajinikanth that the movie had been made in Hindi and then dubbed in other languages.

Later on, the Southern superstar asked Dhoni, “So are you the one who plays your role ” A surprised Dhoni pointed out that it was Sushant who is essaying him on screen, and Rajini apologised for being unaware about it.

The meeting lasted close to 45 minutes, and both Dhoni and Sushant seemed thrilled to meet Rajinikanth at his Chennai residence.
