Dance teacher arrested for sexual assault of 4-year-old

The Amruthahalli police arrested a 21-year-old dance instructor for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl during a summer camp on May 3.

The accused, Peter, was hired by a private school in Kempapura to teach dance during the summer camp. The girl, who had enrolled for the camp, recently returned home and complained to her mother about abdominal pain. The parents took her to a private clinic, where the doctors confirmed sexual assault after examination. Anxious, they took her to another hospital for a second opinion, where it was confirmed again. The parents immediately approached the police and filed a complaint.

The girl told the parents and the police that Peter was responsible for the act. Peter, who was arrested, confessed to the crime, the police said. He has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and remanded to judicial custody. Later in the evening, the Amruthahalli police detained the summer camp organiser, Bharath.

The incident which occurred on May 3 came to light on Friday after the girl’s father approached the police.

“We arrested Peter on Thursday night. Peter, a resident of Chintapur, has studied till 12th grade. He underwent a ballet training programme for six months before joining as a dance instructor. The one-month summer camp was scheduled to get over on May 10. We are questioning Bharath,” a police officer said.
