One of TV’s top names, Divyanka Tripathi from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, has largely managed to steer clear off controversies. However, very recently, there were some talks of her being linked up with married costar Karan Patel and another actor from the same show, Vivek Dahiya. Divyanka was dealing with the haters online with patience but when things got too far, she had to put out a warning. In a candid chat, she talks about dealing with the flip side of fame. Excerpts:

Did the linkup with Karan Patel come as a shock to you I don’t pay attention to these things but it’s strange that my fans want to see him with me. We’re professionals who take our work very seriously. Moreover, he’s a married man now and we don’t share any such vibes at all. It’s funny how people want us to be together just because they love our on screen chemistry. Karan and I just laugh these things off.

You were also linked up with Vivek. Are such talks upsetting There are group of haters who always try to malign my image. They question my character and make all kinds of false announcements. It hurts because they assume things and without any proof in hand. There are always people making up stories and that really upsets me. I don’t wish to curse anyone. I just feel bad when women especially try to sabotage the image of another woman. In such times, how do you calm down I look for good people around me and talk to them. These haters are too less in number when compared to the millions who support me. I look at all those beautiful people who always stand by me. I respect them and they equally respect me. So the love keeps me going.

If you could change one thing, what would it be The narrow-mindedness of our society. People still create limitations and laws for women. But every woman deserves to choose her own path.

Coming to your show, fans have been missing the Raman-Ishita romance... I think the chemistry returned in the scene where Ishita hugs Raman. It was missing for sometime because of the entire ghost track but for all our fans, we’re back.

Who are you closest to on the sets I’m closest to my onscreen appa, Abhay Bhargava. Then Pankaj Bhatia, Vivek and also Shireen. I won’t say the rest are not my friends because when you do a daily soap, it becomes like a family setup. We meet almost every day, chat and share meals together. We get along like house on fire — we talk non-stop.
