Helly Shah and Varun Kapoor have garnered quite the fan following for their turn as Swara and Sanskar in Swaragini. In a chat with us, the actors reveal what makes their onscreen pairing tick.

Helly Shah and Varun Kapoor are enjoying quite the ardent fan following for their act as Swara and Sanskar in the Colors show Swaragini. Even as the plot takes the requisite twists and turns, the love story between Swara and Sanskar is keeping viewers hooked, and that is due, in no small part, to the wonderful chemistry the actors bring to their onscreen portrayal. In an interview with us, the hit jodi talks about how they stay in sync:

Helly, Varun, fans have given your onscreen pairing the rather unusual name of “SwaSan”. What do you think about it Helly: It’s a cute gesture! They’ve joined Swara and Sanskar to make Swasan! Fans love our jodi and that’s a really nice feeling. Varun: Yeah, it feels good that fans think so much of us and come up with these names.

Tell us something fun about your co-star. Helly: Varun loves playing pranks and he pulls it off because he is so calm that no one would even guess that he is responsible! He’s very mischievous! Varun: Helly has to go to the washroom just before the shot is about to start, every single time. It’s funny!

What kinds of scenes make you guys want to crack up Helly: You know, when we’re shooting any serious or romantic scene both of us keep laughing all the time. Just looking at each other is enough to make us burst out laughing — and then we get scolded by our director. So we avoid looking at each other during such scenes now! Varun: There have been so many, where we’ve ultimately had to cut the shot and take a break! But unless someone is really pissed off with us, it’s tough coming back into the flow of the scene. Have there been any moments with fans that you found particularly memorable Helly: I read this cute moment from a fan a few days ago, who said, ‘I don’t like it when SwaSan fight’. It’s a good thing that the audience connects so much with our love story. Varun: When fans approach me for pictures, they call me ‘cute’. That’s always a nice moment. What’s a quality you admire in your co-star and what about him/her annoys you Helly: Varun is focused and is very respectful. The only annoying moment with him is when he plays pranks on me! Varun: Helly is very punctual, I never have to wait for her. A quirk she has, is that when she uses glycerin, her nose starts running! But that’s more cute than annoying! Who is the bigger foodie among the two of you Helly: We’re both equally so! Varun, however, eats healthier while I tend to enjoy junk food and chaat. Varun: No, I think Helly is actually the bigger foodie. She can eat anything! I only gorge on paneer throughout the day. Do you have a favourite spot on the sets Helly: We have a blue sofa with red pillows on the set. I love sitting there, hugging the pillows and reading the script or fiddling with my phone. Varun: The sofa is my favourite spot too. I love relaxing there. Rapid fire: I am addicted to: Helly: My phone and work Varun: Paneer! Last movie I enjoyed: Helly: Tamasha Varun: I don’t remember actually, it was too long ago Song on my mind: Helly: Agar Tum Saath Ho from Tamasha Varun: Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein I am most afraid of: Helly: Reptiles, especially lizards Varun: A day when I’ll wake up and not know what to do A perfect date would be: Helly: Haven’t had one so far Varun: My wife and I on an island for 3-4 days without any mobile network or anybody else to disturb us! We’ll cook for ourselves and just be alone.
