Arko Pravo Mukherjee is a qualified MBBS doctor from Kolkata. However, his interest in music made him leave medicine and the city of joy and try his luck in Mumbai. He got his first break in 2012 with Jism 2 and followed it up with Yaariyan. His other hits include Aaj Phir Tumpe Pyaar Aaya Hai from Hate Story 2 and Meherbani from The Shaukeens. His upcoming projects include Tina & Lolo and Mastan and Jism 3. Excerpts from a quick-fire chat with Arko:

One song on loop Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

Five songs in the soundtrack of your life would be Patience by Guns N Roses, Redemption Song by Bob Marley, Fields Of Gold by Sting, Baawra Mann by Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu Moitra and Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms.

What’s your happy song Bailando by Gente D. Zona and Enrique.

And what do you listen to when you feel really low Inflatable by Bush

Any song you loved as a teen and now it just embarasses you I’m not embarrassed exactly but I find it funny in retrospect that I used to know all the lyrics of Michael Learns To Rock & Boyzone songs back then.

How would you describe your taste in music I am partial to singer-songwriters who are both poets and evocative storytellers at the same time. And among genres I love Country, rock, old Hindi songs, Tagore’s songs and Gospel music.

What’s your favourite time of listening to music Late night at my place.

If you could have a musician perform a private concert for you, who would you choose That’d be two. Sting and John Mayer.

One live act you’d love to see U2 and Bruce Springsteen together.
