Model files Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Sunny Leone

Model Pooja Misrra has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against actress Sunny Leone alias Karenjit Kaur. Ms Misrra who was Ms Leone’s housemate in the reality show Bigg Boss season 5 has alleged that the actor had made defamatory statements against her after coming out of the Bigg Boss’ house.

In her complaint letter, Ms Misrra has claimed that Ms Leone tried to overshadow her on reality show and tried to malign her name in interviews. She also claimed that the actor along with her husband Daniel Weber attempted to sabotage her work. The model has urged the court to issue process against Sunny Leone under IPC sections 500 (defamation) read with 120(b) (conspiracy).

The division bench headed by Justice Naresh H. Patil however adjourned this matter for further hearing. “Adjourned... beyond vacation,” said Justice Patil. This means the suit would come up for hearing in June 2016 after summer vacations of the high court is over.

According to the petition, Ms Leone had attributed motives against Ms Misrra in an impugned article in a city newspaper due to which her reputation had been damaged in public eye. Due to that, Ms Misrra had to break her fixed deposits and withdraw her savings, thereby suffering loss to the tune of Rs 70 lakh, because of Ms Leone’s statements.

The relationship between the two soured five years ago when the both of them appeared on Bigg Boss. Ms Misrra got furious particularly when a contestant of Splitsvilla, a show hosted by Ms Leone, was called Pooja Misrra.

The model in her petition has alleged that it was done with the sole purpose of humiliating her. The extensive complaint letter includes 10 more accusations against Sunny. She has also contended in her petition that she was a popular contestant of TV show Bigg Boss 5, and Ms Leone had entered the show much later. She also alleged that Ms Leone had given defamatory interviews in a section of the media, and this was done out of malice and jealousy towards her.
