MNS, BJP men go on warpath

After Maharashtra Navirman Sena (MNS) activists allegedly attacked local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and president of India Bullion and Jewellers Association Mohit Kamboj’s office and the leader himself twice in two days, BJP workers on Sunday morning allegedly retaliated by attacking an MNS office. It is learnt that Mr Kamboj had written a letter challenging MNS chief Raj Thackeray over his controversial stand against non-Marathi auto rickshaw drivers.
On Sunday afternoon, a few MNS people allegedly tried to manhandle Mr Kamboj in Appapada in Malad while he was heading towards Kranti Nagar to address a public meeting, after which he lodged a police complaint. On Saturday too, sabotage was allegedly attempted in Mr Kamboj’s office in Kurar, Malad (east). Following it, an FIR was registered in the case and the police booked two people.
Commenting on the incident, officers of Kurar police station said they are investigating both cases. The DCP of the area, Mr Ramkumar, said, “On Saturday night a few persons tried to create ruckus in Mr Kamboj’s office, after which a case was registered and we arrested two persons. While again on Sunday afternoon a few tried to attack him. We have recovered video clips of the incident. Now, we are trying to identify all persons.”
Speaking to The Asian Age, Mr Kamboj said, “We won’t tolerate it and we will reply to them in their way.”
On Sunday morning, the MNS office was attacked by alleged BJP workers in Kurar.
Commenting on the attack, MNS leader Nitin Sardesai said, “Kamboj is making several controversial statements again and again on our leader. So, our workers reacted. I guess he is doing a publicity stunt.” A BJP worker claimed that his party members had attacked the MNS office to avenge Saturday’s attack.
