The domestic airport police station on Tuesday evening registered a case against self-styled godwoman Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa.

The domestic airport police station on Tuesday evening registered a case against self-styled godwoman Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa. Earlier this month the Andheri metropolitan magistrate had ordered the police to lodge an FIR under the Arms Act against her for carrying a sharp ‘trishul’ (trident) on a flight last year.

DCP of the area Virendra Mishra, confirming the development, told The Asian Age, “We have received the court order and we have registered the FIR.” When asked about the arrests, Mr Mishra said, “the decision will be taken soon.”

A senior official from the police station told this newspaper, “As it was registered after a court order, it’s a MeCr, it was registered against Radhe Maa, Jet Airways officials and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials.

The Andheri metropolitan magistrate’s order followed a complaint by RTI activist Asad Patel a year ago against Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa for entering the domestic airport premises in August 2015 carrying the trishul, where it is banned under law.

Commenting on it Mr Patel said, “Tridents, which are dangerous and can cause harm to passengers, are among many other such sharp items banned by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. However, since Radhe Maa claims to be a godwoman, she was not restrained by the airport security staff from carrying it with her on the flight operated by a private airline. No weapon or replica of a weapon is allowed on board as per civil Aviation safety rules.”

According to police station sources, the FIR was registered against Radhe Maa, Aurangabad CISF duty officials, Mumbai airport CISF duty in charge, the Mumbai Airport CISF assistant commander and flight attendants of Jet Airways, as she had travelled in a Jet Airways aircraft.
