Mumbai: The prosecution and defence on Tuesday completed arguments on framing of charges against Kalyan youth, Areeb Majeed, arrested for joining banned terror outfit ISIS in Syria. The court has now posted the matter for framing of charges on Feb 7.

Prosecution on Tuesday withdrew section 38 (person concerned in criminal act may be guilty of different offence) of IPC but argued that all other charges pressed against him by NIA should be framed against Majeed and he should be tried for all these charges. On the other hand, Majeed’s lawyer, Mubin Solkar, claimed that no case had been made out against his client and hence, he should be discharged from the case.

NIA has booked Majeed under sections 16, 18 and 20 of UAPA for conspiring to commit a terrorist attack and being a member of a banned foreign terror outfit. He has also been booked under the stringent section 125 of IPC for waging war against the nation. His three accomplices, Shaheem Tanki, Fahad Sheikh and Aman Tandel are arraigned as wanted accused in the case. Special NIA prosecutor on Tuesday argued before the court that there was enough material and evidence to prove charges againt Areeb Majeed.
