Passenger deported from Turkey caught at IGI Airport

New Delhi: A passenger, who was allegedly deported from Istanbul last week for using a fake passport to gain entry into Turkey, was caught by an alert immigration official on Sunday. Police said the passenger, Thiru Gana Sampantha Moorthy Sinnapodi, arrived as a deportee from Istanbul and went to an immigration official at counter number 34 for clearance. When Mr Moorthy’s documents were being scrutinised, the official found that he was deported from Istanbul on Saturday last for using a fake Indian passport. 

On checking, it was found the fake passport was not issued to him but to one Subha Samanta Sankar Samanta. The accused, according to the police, had departed from the IGI Airport using his original Indian passport and declared his destination as Azerbaijan. But on reaching Istanbul, Mr Sinnapodi hid his original passport and presented a fake one to gain entry into Turkey A police case has been registered against him, said a police official.
