: Chittoor Mayor Ms K Anuradha and her husband were shot at by unidentified assailants in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
Anuradha succumbed to her injuries while her husband is said to be critical. Both of them were shifted to Vellore Hospital.
According to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order, Andhra Pradesh, Mr R P Thakur, both of them were fired and attacked by swords. “Initial information says one of them died and the other is being treated. We are trying to find out motive behind the attack,” he said. Unidentified assailants walked into the municipal corporation office and carried out the attack. Chittoor is the home district of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Anuradha is from ruling Telugu Desam Party.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed the attackers are suspected to be from Karnataka.
