One of the most awaited books since the Harry Potter series, Cursed Child has been released today. Why not celebrate with some web and television series inspired by the fandom worldwide

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been much talked about this year because it brings back one of the most legendary fantasy series of all time. The play, written by JK Rowling, will translate to paper today and it’s the perfect time to visit web series and television shows inspired by the biggest fandom in the world. Maybe you could discover your next binge-watch!

Potter Puppet Pals Arguably, one of the funniest online parodies of the Harry Potter series, Potter Puppet Pals was released on YouTube way back in 2007. The web series that makes fun of the characters solely via hand puppets was a go-to for all fans of that time. Harry Potter is a snob who sings songs like ‘Smooth Apparate-r’ and Neville is a butternut squash. Just like Harry Potter, this series can be enjoyed by adults and children alike and it is truly one of the strangest and most hilarious thing you’ll see on the Internet today. Who knew an adult could enjoy sock puppets!

Letters to Teddy Following the life of Perrie Winston at the American Benjamin Franklin School of Magical Learning, Letters to Teddy is a unique and lesser-known web series. Perrie, along with her friends Abby, Dan and Luka, sends letters to her pen pal exchange program partner — Teddy Lupin, the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks! Shot as video diary entries, the series is an adorable take at the new generation of wizards and their curiosity and admiration for the people of Dumbledore’s Army. It is an accurate portrayal of the awkwardness of teenagers... just with magic involved.

Harry Potter and The Ten Years Later Yet another parody of the magical books and movies, Harry Potter and the Ten Years Later takes a look at what happens to Harry a decade later after the war. The web series starts with him losing his job as an Auror, his wife pressurising him to start a family and Ron and Hermione splitting up. It has quite a few laughs but it stands out because of its unique perspective of the Potterverse. It has all the workings to either make or break your childhood memories of the books but anything Potter is worth taking a risk for, right

(My) Immortal Only hardcore fans who spent days and nights exploring Harry Potter fan-fiction will know how big of a success My Immortal — a fan fiction work by a yet unknown writer was. It was so unintentionally bad and hilarious that it acquired a massive fan following with everyone following the writer’s every word. With the Internet being the way it is, of course someone came up with a web series to commemorate and parody the infamous writings. Enoby Darkness Dementia Raven Way (yes, that’s the lead character’s name) is a goth, the Death Eaters are a punk band and Harry’s turned goth too!

The Magicians For those who would like to ditch fan-made works for some television series instead. The Magicians comes close to Harry Potter in its premise. Based on the books by Lev Grossman, the show is about Quentin Coldwater, who arrives at the only school for magic in North America and realizes that magic isn’t as easy and amazing as it seems. He enjoys a book about a fictional land called Fillory and soon discovers that the place is real. Of course, perils await him. The best part — the second season is in the works too!
