Veteran actress Shabana Azmi was left in tears when she watched Sridhar Rangayan’s Evening Shadows at the Lonavala International Film Festival this year. Now, she’s keen on helping the budding filmmaker get a commercial release.

“Shabana has said that she will talk to some distributors she knows. She feels that the film should be seen by a larger audience. She’s a busy person, and she’s going out of her way to help us, and that really means a lot,” the filmmaker says.

Sridhar says that he’s drawn inspiration for the film from his own life. “I am a Tamilian myself, I come from a similar background, and I have had such conversations with my mother. Though it’s not autobiographical, the film has bits of me and my mother,” he says.
