Cashier of Gautam Gambhir father’s firm robbed

A commission agent of cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s father Deepak Gambhir was robbed of cash and bank drafts amounting to Rs 44 lakh on Sunday evening near Gandhi Nagar in East Delhi.

A commission agent of cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s father Deepak Gambhir was robbed of cash and bank drafts amounting to Rs 44 lakh on Sunday evening near Gandhi Nagar in East Delhi.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Shyam Tiwari, works with Mr Gambhir, who runs a textile shop named Yogesh Trading in Gandhi Nagar.

Mr Tiwari told the police that he was approached by two persons on a motorcycle when he was returning with the cash to the shop in Gandhi Nagar. The two men tried to snatch his bag and when Mr Tiwari resisted, they beat him up. The duo snatched the bag, which contained Rs 6 lakh in cash and bank drafts worth Rs 37,71,000, and fled.

The market association members staged protest over rise in cases of snatching and robberies involving businessmen.

The police registered a complaint of robbery against unidentified persons and has begun investigations to track the culprits. The police is also examining the footage of CCTV cameras in the vicinity where the incident took place.
