Boy’s death: Bone test to reveal age of accused
A bone test will be conducted to ascertain the age of the older of the two brothers apprehended in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Rajat Menon in east Delhi, said the police on Friday.

A bone test will be conducted to ascertain the age of the older of the two brothers apprehended in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Rajat Menon in east Delhi, said the police on Friday.
However, unsatisfied with the progress of the police investigation in the case, the parents of the victim, along with the locals, have called for a candlelight march on Sunday at the park where Rajat was beaten to death on Wednesday evening.
A police official said that as per the marksheet of the older of the two accused, his date of birth is 10th January 1998, but his parents have claimed that it was incorrect. “To clear the picture over the age of the elder brother, we have recommended a bone ossification test. If he is found to be a major, then he will be booked under adequate sections of the IPC for killing the boy,” informed a senior police official.
The brothers were produced before a juvenile justice board on Friday and later sent to a correction home. The post-mortem on Rajat’s body was conducted on Thursday. Since no external injury was found on the body, the Police has preserved the viscera to ascertain the cause of death.
The Delhi government had on Friday issued notice to a city nursing home for allegedly denying treatment Rajat. The notice issued by the directorate of health services has sought the nursing home’s explanation into the “grave matter” and has threatened to cancel its registration if found guilty.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government on Saturday requested the Union government to ensure an “independent and just” investigation into the incident.
A letter in this regard was sent to Union home minister Rajnath Singh by state chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday.
He said there had been reports from the beginning that the police probe in this regard was not effective.
“The Home minister should sincerely intervene in the matter so as to raise the confidence of Delhi Malayalee community in the national capital,” he said.
