Mastizaade has already garnered 1.8 million views on YouTube. Milap Zaveri, the director with the Midas Touch, gives us the lowdown on what works for his films.

What were the challenges while editing the trailer of Mastizaade The first thing I told my editor is that I don’t want to use any footage that wasn’t passed by the censors. I know that on YouTube you can show anything, but we were very clear that all the material used would be part of the film. We didn’t want to fool the audience by showing them something in the trailer that wasn’t going to be part of the film. We also had to (bring out) that Sunny Leone is playing a double role in the film. We had lines in mind like ‘coming soon’, or ‘arriving soon’ but the tag line Sikka Hilega worked the best for us. Is it a challenging task making a sex comedy in India Thankfully, this genre works in India. Grand Masti is the only ‘A’ certificate movie which crossed the `100 cr collection. There is a huge audience that wants to see such films.

What is Sunny’s role all about Everyone knows the sexy side to her but I have also shown a funny side. I think the character is closest to what Sunny is in real life. When I started to interact with Sunny, I realised that she is a very different person and I wrote that character to match her real personality. Did Sunny have any reservations about the humour In the film, Sunny has no kissing scene. There is no love-making scene either but there are double meaning jokes. When she heard the script, she had no reservations. In fact, I have exploited the boys more than Sunny Leone. In the trailer, the scene where Sunny’s top tears was actually her idea. Also, the producer of the film is a woman (Rangita Nandy) so she wouldn’t have allowed anything beyond a limit. How did you think of Ritesh Deshmukh as the love guru He has done me a favour. It was very gracious of him to do a cameo. I think he is the king of this genre.
