Does Shahid Kapoor want to skip Udta Punjab promotions

Team Udta Punjab has already had an unpleasant run-in with the censor board weeks before the release of the movie. The team now wants to employ innovative ways to promote the film and drum up excitement for its release. We hear that Zee Music, the music label of the film, is planning to promote its music by doing a few city tours, consisting of concerts, along with the lead actors of the film. Since Shahid plays a rockstar in Udta Punjab, the filmmakers want him to take his role off screen during the concerts planned across the country.

Marketing head of Zee Music, Kirthi Rai confirmed the news saying, “Yes we are planning a few music activities with the lead actors across a few cities to promote the music of the film.”

Shahid, however, may not be up for the tour. Reason The actor wants to spend some quality time with his wife, and soon-to-be-mother Mira Rajput, before their baby is born. When approached for the promotion tour by Udta Punjab’s team, Shahid’s spokesperson said that he wouldn’t be available for it.

When contacted, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, Aman Gill said, “It’s absolutely baseless. In fact Shahid has been there for all the promotional activities across and continues to promote as we speak. Unlike other films, with Udta Punjab we are being very selective with the GEC shows that we visit, owing to the content of the film.”
