Chhattisgarh police have arrested two youths for allegedly gangraping a 36-year-old married woman and then inserting a rod in her private parts, in a replay of the brutal Delhi's Nirbhaya gangrape in December 2012.

The alleged incident, which took place in Mahasamund district's Pirada village on October 11, came to light on Sunday following the arrest of two of the accused, Devendra Choudhury (23), Farid Ali (25). The third accused, Prince Saluja (23), son of local BJP worker J.S. Jassi and also the mastermind in the crime, was still absconding, police said.

"The victim had come to her paternal home for the Dussehra festival," Basna police station SHO Naresh Yadav told reporters.

The three youths allegedly abducted the victim from the house, bundled her in their car and took her to a secluded place where she was gangraped, police said.

The assailants allegedly thrashed her badly and then inserted a rod in her private parts when she resisted their attempt, the woman told the police, adding the three gangraped her and then dumped her in a bleeding condition.

Chief minister Raman Singh has condemned the incident, describing it an "act of sick minds". He said that no one involved in the incident would be spared and strong action would be taken against the accused.
