Govt reaching out to other nations via BJP delegations

New Delhi: Taking a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view of creating a relationship with other nations and pushing Indian perspective across the world, delegations of senior BJP leaders have set out to connect with various countries.  

The government’s move of reaching out to other  nations is important in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 and the aftermath of Jammu and Kashmir issue.  

These delegations will discuss various sensitive issues during their interactive sessions in these countries.

Sources stated that the countries on the BJP leaders’ tour list include the United States, China and South Korea. During the tours, the BJP leaders interact with the local politicians, prominent citizens and Indian diaspora living in these countries.

Sources stated that these  visits are important for the party as in addition to the development of skill and perspective among the party leaders, it also creates an additional channel of people-to-people talk with other nations.

“The move allows the party to reach out to  the leadership of other countries in an unofficial means,” sources added.  

A senior party leader stated that the tours are being conducted as a part of an exchange programme to enable the Indian leaders to understand political system of that country and vice-versa.

BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and senior leader and spokerperson Vijay Sonkar Shastri are in the United States and have reportedly participated in several programmes aimed at making the people aware of the  Indian perspective on various issues, including Kashmir.  

A delegation led by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh will leave for China on August 24.

The visit also assumes significance as the Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the country later this year. A similar five member BJP delegation, led by national General Secretary Muralidhar Rao is also likely to visit South Korea.
