The government announced last month that Aadhaar-based verification of existing SIMs can be done via OTP-based method.

Service providers will facilitate an OTP-based verification process through SMS or voiced-based IVRS call or via a mobile app.

Results of a survey revealed that majority of the respondents demanded that a financial penalty be levied on organisations that compromised their Aadhaar, bank or call/data transaction details.

The survey said 39 per cent of would completely support the Aadhaar-SIM linking move while 12 per cent declined support.
