Friends again

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ announcement of a memorial to the late Shiv Sena founder, Bal Thackeray, to be built at the mayor’s bungalow in Shivaji Park appears to be the first sign of a possible thaw in its strained ties with the Sena. The Shiv Sena was disgruntled by the BJP’s attempts to sideline it into accepting its place as a junior partner. The electoral reverses in the just-concluded Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and Bihar Assembly polls seem to have brought the BJP back to its senses.
