Union minister for human resources development Smriti Irani’s statement that “ what’s incredible (is) ...that he (Aamir Khan) can be a brand ambassador for our government and he can be on a platform in front of the information and broadcasting minister (Arun Jaitley) and speak his mind shows that free speech thrives ” is absolutely correct. Whatever Kiran Rao may have said to Aamir should not have entered the public domain. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s support to Aamir has only politicised the issue further. Filmstars need to make a reality check before making such brazen statements. Reality differs from movies.
