Rahul Gandhi took a bold step in going against his own party and the Prime Minister on the issue of the ordinance introduced by the government to protect corrupt MPs and MLAs from disqualification. In deviating from protocol, Mr Gandhi upheld the right principles, but he also put the Congress Party in an uncomfortable position. While we shouldn’t expect any significant reaction from our soft-spoken Prime Minister, it will be interesting to see what Congress president Sonia Gandhi has to say about her son’s departure from the party line.
