Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah’s statement — “Agar BJP galti se bhi Bihar me haarti hai to jay-parajay to Bihar me hogi, patakhe Pakistan me chhutenge” — during an election campaign rally in Bihar shows that he senses an impending defeat in the Assembly elections.

Hence, he is resorting to communal politics, invoking anti-Pakistan sentiment in what is essentially a state election. This will only mislead voters, dividing them on the basis of religion. It’s time Mr Shah stopped his poisonous rhetoric before Bihar gets communalised beyond control.
