Ashok singhal R.I.P.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal’s death comes at a moment when the Hindu supremacist view has taken a dominant position in the country. The poster boy for the Ram Mandir movement, Singhal called the BJP’s 2014 victory an end to “800 years of slavery” for Hindus. Singhal’s undying commitment to Hindu nationalism is unparalleled, but his disappointment in not having witnessed a Ram mandir at Ayodhya should enlighten the right-wing leaders to consider the futility of their anger and violence in asserting Hindu supremacy over India.
