Washington: President Donald Trump does not like that intelligence agencies are demanding that thousands of files relating to the JFK assassination remain classified. Trump is warning agencies he will release all of the files if they don't take seriously his order to minimize redactions in the documents that have left historians and conspiracy theorists wondering for decades.

Officials were angling ways to keep their secrets, even hours before the deadline and the president made it clear he did not appreciate their persistence.

According to White House officials, Trump accepted that some of the records contained references to sensitive sources and methods, but told aides he did not believe the extensive redactions were in the spirit of the law. In the end, he accepted the compromise of a temporary reprieve.
