A lewd clip that was screened publicly on a huge digital billboard, set up by the civic body at a busy traffic signal in Pune city, has left pedestrians and commuters of the area red-faced.

As the lewd clip played on, vehicular traffic around the signal got reduced to a crawl as several commuters lingered on to find out what was happening, while many got out off their cars to watch the clip. The incident occurred at Nal Stop traffic signal of Pune’s elite Karve Nagar, home to a significantly erudite population.

Vijay Dahibhate, deputy commissioner, sky sign department, Pune Municipal Corporation, was clueless about the incident.

“I am hearing such a thing for the first time and will ask for information from the officer concerned.”

For a city known as the Oxford of the East owing to its status as an educational hub, the incident left many residents appalled. Saurabh Joshi, a resident of Karve Nagar, said, “How can a porn film be shown on the road and that too on hoardings of the municipal corporation The PMC ought to improve its administration.”

A Twitter user, who used the handle of ‘@MumBaekar’, on Friday shared pictures clicked by her friend on the social media platform. Within minutes, the images went viral. The images had captured the lewd clips from ‘Xvideos.com’, titled “Desi Sexy Seduce Cam 14 mins’”.

Many residents suspected the gaffe could have been caused accidentally by someone who was streaming porn clips from his personal computer system.

The clip attracted the attention of many commuters with many slowing down their vehicles triggering traffic snarls.

A few of them were, however, seen standing on the road and enjoying the spectacle on display.
