New Delhi: The CBSE Class 12 and 10 examinations began on Monday with over 28 lakh students appearing for English and IT papers respectively.

The Class 12 students in the national capital said that the English paper was easy but lengthy.

“It was a good paper. Nothing was out of syllabus. But it was lengthy as all answers took time. There was a lot to write in each section,” said Vipul, a Class 12 student in a Central Delhi school.

“The literature and comprehension sections were easy, but the writing section was lengthy,” said another student.

A total of 16,38,428 candidates have registered for the Class 10 examination while 11,86,306 candidates have registered for the Class 12 examinations. The exam will be conducted at 4,453 centres across India and 78 centres outside India. Similarly, for Class 12 the exam will be held at 4,138 centres in India and 71 centres abroad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to students appearing in the board examinations, saying they should write their exams with confidence.

“Best of luck to all my young friends appearing for the CBSE Class 12 and Class 10 examinations! Write these exams with a smile and lots of confidence,” he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has warned the Class 10 and 12 examination centres about frivolous mails and messages being sent to them asking for copies of question papers for verification.

“It has been observed that some elements are writing to some of the examination centres and asking for copies of question papers for verification. Such elements are sending text messages in the name of the CBSE examination controller,” an advisory issued by the board read.

The CBSE has also allowed students with special needs to write their exams using laptops this year.
