I hope to be like Rekha: Manisha Koirala
The two actresses shared screen space in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Lajja.
Besides their timeless beauty, actresses Manisha Koirala and Rekha have other traits in common. They’re both essentially loners, and they’re fiercely loyal to those they consider close friends. Not surprisingly, the two share a special bond.
Talking about their relationship, Manisha says, “Rekhaji is gorgeous. She is one of my favourites. I hope to be like her when I get to her age. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is to look at. And she is so disciplined. I’ve started leading a regimented lifestyle only after falling ill. But Rekhaji has been doing it all her life.”
The two actresses shared screen space in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s 2001 film Lajja. And rumour has it that they may soon be cast together again by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The filmmaker started his career by directing Manisha in Khamoshi, and he’s been close friends with Rekha for the past several years. Now, he’s looking for a script that will do both of them justice.
