With the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha completing the formalities to officially acknowledge Amaravati as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, the people of the state have finally got something that they have been waiting for over 10 years.

Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of the capital city works at Amaravati on October 22, 2025, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu could not give due place to Amaravati as the capital city through the law, despite peacefully pooling 33,000 acres of land peacefully without a murmur.

A known visionary, Chandrababu Naidu, prepared plans to build a magnificent capital city at Amaravati. However, the massive scale could not bear fruit within five years. His loss in the Assembly had put all capital works in a freezer, and his successor, Jagan Mohan Reddy, sowed further confusion in the minds of people with his three capital policy.

Nevertheless, the Naidu government acted swiftly now by getting the legislative recognition for Amaravati. This inspires confidence among people who parted with their land, and also those who are keen on investing in the new capital.

Thanks to the World Bank’s Rs 13,000-crore loan, Naidu has the required financial muscle to put his plans into action. It is essential to overcome the geographic disadvantage of Amaravati being in a flood-prone zone. He must complete the infrastructure quickly to ensure that it cannot be reversed, as Jagan Mohan Reddy made his aversion to Amaravati known by floating his idea for a large capital — called MAVIGUN — which includes Vijayawada, Guntur and Machilipatnam. A city is built by people, while the government acts as a facilitator. So Naidu must swiftly complete infrastructure works to allow the proposed IBM Quantum Valley to take off at Amaravati, and allow people to channel their money to the new capital.
