Los Angeles: Actress-singer Jennifer Holliday has cancelled her performance at US President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration concert.

The 56-year-old singer took back her decision to perform at the January 19 event after members of the Broadway and LGBTQ community expressed their outrage on learning about her participation, reported People.

Jennifer wrote in an open letter, "My only choice must now be to stand with the (LGBTQ) Community and to state unequivocally that I will not perform for the welcome concert or for any of the inauguration festivities!"

The singer asked her fans to forgive her and regretted that her decision had hurt so many American people.

"I sincerely apologize for my lapse of judgement, for being uneducated on the issues that affect every American at this crucial time in history and for causing such dismay and heartbreak to my fans," she wrote.

Jennifer continued, "Please know that I HEAR YOU and I feel your pain."

The singer was supposed to perform at the Lincoln Memorial show called "Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration", with artists like rock band 3 Doors Down and country singers Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood.
