While paneer (cottage cheese) is an excellent source of protein in itself, green peas can help in effectively boosting the proteins in bhurji. Paneer bhurji is a delicious dish that can satiate all your hunger pangs, and keep your tummy full for long. Paneer especially, is a heavy ingredient.

Here are a few nutritional and health benefits of green peas:

They contain fibre which improves gut health.

Green peas are known for lowering the risk of stroke and heart diesase.

In particular, peas help in losing weight, because they help in maintaining your gut health. Being abundant in fibre, they help in proper digestion. You can either throw in some pea pods directly to the bhurji, or make a pea puree and add it to the dish.

According to NDTV, it’s preferable to add whole pods because they help in retaining the fibre content. But if you’re selective and are a picky eater, go for the puree. Nonetheless, just add them. It’ll be a distinct dish and green peas are a good ingredient to experiment with. Here’s an easy paneer bhurji recipe:

In a deep pan, heat some oil. Add 1 chopped onion and chillies. Sauté till the onions turn translucent on medium flame. Next, add some chopped tomatoes. Let them cook for a while. Add the basic masalas: a tbsp of red chilli powder, a tbsp of dhaniya (coriander powder), 1/4th tbsp of turmeric powder and salt according to taste. Mix well.
