The Juvenile Justice Bill passed by the Rajya Sabha awaits the President’s assent, but the question is why this takes so much time. The delay of three years (December 2012 gangrape case) says a lot about the interest of the government. Interestingly, the bill concerning the salary increments of Parliament members was passed immediately. The delay in the amendment shows the government’s insensitivity on issues of women’s safety.
