Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brief stopover in Pakistan on his way back to India from Afghanistan is being criticised by the Opposition for lacking “predictability”. They are calling his Pakistan “approach frivolous, unpredictable and marked by fits, starts and abrupt U-turns”. This visit resulted from the surprise talks between the two Prime Ministers in France during COP21 and the NSAs’ meet in Thailand. It is important that leaders of the two nations enjoy a personal rapport to prevent Kashmiri separatists and the media from stalling any dialogue.
