Lucknow: The two-year long dispute in the Samajwadi family seems to have been resolved, to an extent, with all family members coming together to celebrate the 72nd birthday of senior party leader Prof Ram Gopal Yadav in Sefai in Etawah on Friday.

Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mr Shivpal Yadav were both present at the birthday function which was held at a hotel.

Both the leaders had earlier blamed Prof Ram Gopal Yadav for the crisis in the party and the division in the family.

Prof Ram Gopal Yadav was instrumental in removing Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav from the party president’s post.

Mr Akhilesh Yadav and his family were not present since they are presently holidaying in London. However, after the humiliating defeat of the Samajwadi Party, the family members seem to have put the past behind them. Mr Shivpal Yadav was seen cutting a four-tier cake with Prof Ram Gopal Yadav while other family members and party leaders clapped and cheered.

The two leaders embraced each other after cake cutting.

Later, talking to reporters, Mr Shivpal Singh Yadav said that all the differences have been put aside and the entire family is united.
