New Delhi: Centre plans to launch a major offensive to improve the security environment in Jammu and Kashmir now that the state has been placed under Governorâs rule and as part of the strategy will soon constitute a core security group comprising top functionaries from Prime Ministerâs office, home ministry as well as security and intelligence agencies.
This new group would function as a nodal agency to advise J&K Governor N.N. Vohra on all security related issues. Top security sources said Centre was waiting for the completion of the Amarnath Yatra for the new group to start functioning.
There has been considerable concern among the security establishment in the Capital that terror outfits used the month-long ceasefire period during the holy month of Ramzan to re-group themselves.
This, sources added, was perhaps the reason why the security situation in the Valley has not shown much improvement event after being placed under Governorâs rule last month.
