Mayawati Slams congress, jolts talks of Alliance

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Tuesday blamed the BJP and the Congress for the increase in prices of petroleum products.

In a statement released here, she described the BJP and the Congress as two sides of the same coin.

The former state chief minister Mayawati accused the BJP government of playing in to the hands of big industrialists and said that because of this reason that the hike in petrol, diesel prices were not being rolled back despite severe protests.

Ms Mayawati’s statement is being seen as a jolt to talks of a grand alliance of Opposition parties. Ms Mayawati had not supported the bandh call which was termed as ‘surprising’ by political analysts.

Ms Mayawati has also not given any statement regarding her willingness to join the Opposition alliance.
