13-year-old boy killed in firing in J&K’s Kupwara

The security forces fired pellets and used live ammunition, resulting into the death of a Class 7 student identified as Owais Ahmad Mir.

Police sources said that the security forces were returning from election duty in Langate area of the Baramulla constituency when a group of youth allegedly pelted stones at them outside Mandigam village.

Srinagar: Though polling in Jammu and Kashmir’s two Lok Sabha constituencies — Baramulla and Jammu — passed off peacefully, a 13-year-old boy was killed when the security forces fired live ammunition to quell a stone-pelting mob while withdrawing from election duty in frontier Kupwara district on Thursday evening.
