Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah made his directorial debut with 2006’s Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, which turned out to be a cult film. But while he’s busy directing plays, he hasn’t returned to direction since then.

Now we hear that his sons Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah have been convincing their father to direct a direct a movie that’s adapted from Ismat Chugtai’s story, Nivala. Says Vivaan, “I would love to be directed by my father. My brother and I were both trying to convince him to get back to directing. Hopefully, we will see that soon. He’s a big fan of Ismat Chugtai’s story, and so we’ve been trying to convince him to adapt the story, which is very close to him.”

He adds, “It’s a beautiful story by Ismat, called Nivala, and dad has been wanting to direct it is well. We both have been convincing him to adapt it into a film. In fact, he’s already adapted it and has written the screenplay of it, but we are convincing him to make it into a movie. I’m hoping and waiting for the day that happens.”
