Akhtar had referred to the players as 'hardly literate player or a wrestler', and received a strong response from Phogat.

Mahavir Singh Phogat and his family came into the limelight after Aamir Khan's film 'Dangal.'

Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Gurmehar Kaur, who was trolled by Virender Sehwag, Randeep Hooda and Yogeshwar Dutt for a video in which she says, ‘Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him.’

Javed Akhtar was one of the celebrities who posted a strong response to the celebrities trolling the youngster. The veteran writer-lyricist, in support of Gurmehar, had tweeted , ‘If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr its understandable but whats wrong with some educated folks,’ perhaps referring to Sehwag and Dutt respectively.

However, the tweet has not gone down well with Mahavir Singh Phogat, father of wrestlers, Geeta and Babita Phogat, whose life was captured in Aamir Khan’s recent blockbuster ‘Dangal.’

He replied to Akhtar’s tweet saying, ‘There could not be anyone who could be more educated to the motherland than the one who does service to the country. Jai Hind. ’

He also wrote, ‘Here a lifetime passed in earning a medal for the country and it does not even take a moment to term someone illiterate.’

Incidentally, Geeta and Babita, who have won gold medals for the country in the sport of wrestling, have also slammed Gurmehar for her views in the video.
