Justice Siddiqui said the court would decide in the next hearing if the social media platform was required or not in the country.

Islamabad: Chief Justice of the Islamabad high court Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Wednesday said Facebook could be banned in Pakistan if the social media platform management did not cooperate with the country’s request to remove blasphemous content from its pages.Justice Siddqiui said the court might order the government to conduct a referendum on whether to ban Facebook or not.

Interior secretary Arif Khan said intelligence agencies had been approached in the case and some people arrested for posting blasphemous content. A Federal Investigation Agency official said two to three more arrests had been made.Justice Siddiqui said the court would decide in the next hearing if the social media platform was required or not in the country.
