Nike’s self-lacing sneakers, HyperAdapt 1.0 to go on sale on the 28th November.

Nike’s self-lacing sneakers, HyperAdapt 1.0 to go on sale on the 28th November.

Nike’s self-lacing sneakers inspired by shoes worn by Michael Fox in the movie - Back to the Future II, will be available for purchase from the 28th November onward. According to the tweet from the company’s PR Director, Heidi Burgett, ‘HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available in the U.S. at select Nike retail locations. Appointments to experience & purchase begin 11.28.16.’

HyperAdapt 1.0 works on the mechanism of an algorithmic pressure equation. When the wearer steps in, the heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten. There are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen the grip.

LEDs in the heel light up when the shoes are tightening and when it’s low on battery. The HyperAdapt 1.0 take up to three hours for a full charge and each charge lasts about two weeks. Users will be provided with a magnetic clip-on charger to top the shoes’ battery life.
