Following its separation from Hewlett-Packard Company, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the new wing of HP that would deal with enterprise solutions announced on its first working day that it would focus on empowering enterprises with technological solutions in areas of cyber-security and data optimization.

It also announced that the separation would have no direct impact on HP India employees. HP enterprise’s focus would be on solutions involving, computer servers, data storage, networking and consulting service, whereas HP Inc. will largely look after business around personal computers and printers.

“At HP, we look at the split as creating two Fortune 50 companies from one,” said Neelam Dhawan, vice president and general manager of HP Enterprise, India, going ahead to add that the split was inspired by market conditions that had evolved differently for both wings of businesses.

Computers and printers are largely being dealt on an online platform. On the other hand, enterprises solutions are moving towards complex IT solutions. The split will ensure better focus on innovation and optimisation of cost structure, Dhawan said.

Addressing questions for expected layoff that HP had announced in September this year, Dhawan said that organisational restructuring would happen at globally, but would not impact HP India team, which is more focused on research and development, application services and customer services.

Foreseeing tremendous market opportunities in enterprise services, HP Entp. plans to focus on providing services around hybrid virtual storage, cyber security, empowering data-driven solutions that can help organisations increase workplace productivity.

“Future citizens of India don’t want to stand in lines; they want to be online,” said Dhawan adding that HP Entp. plans to help that happen.
