Google Maps is now available offline
Even if you have no internet connection, your Google Maps offline will rescue you
Google Maps was only available to you if you had your internet connection active via mobile data or a Wi-Fi signal. Though the GPS would point out your exact location, it is useless because you cannot see where you are located on your map as it won’t download without a valid internet connection. Though you could have the map of a certain area downloaded for previewing later, you would have had to do it prior to your movements. But that was pretty limited to the area and zoom preview only.
But now, Google says that you can download the map of any area in the world with just a single click and you can avail of the complete map with full turn-by-turn navigation. This feature was previewed by developers in beta mode this May at the Google I/O conference.
With the new Google Maps update, you will now be able to search for destinations, and also access information about businesses in that area. The update is already rolling out to Android smartphones, with iOS roll out coming soon.
