Huawei manufactures a range of Kirin chipsets under the roof of its chip-manufacturing handle HiSilicon. The sub-brand was founded in 2004 since when it has been yielding Kirin chipsets exclusively for Huawei smartphones. However, the question we have had for long time is why, like Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exonus, these chipsets never come in any other smartphones?

The answer came in through a Chinese tech website IThome which posted the statement of Huawei’s senior product director. Brody Ji affirmed that the company doesn’t consider Kirin chipsets as a business tool but they take it as their exclusively developed technology which helps them in staying strong in the competition of creating potent smartphones.

Huawei’s latest flagship chipset — Kirin 980 debuted at the IFA 2018 which houses a circuitry capable enough of making its handsets much efficient. There’s a pair of Cortex A76 cores which are clocked at 2.6GHz accompanied by other two at 1.99GHz along with four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

Huawei has recently bagged the title of second largest smartphone shipping company after Samsung, surpassing Apple. All this is an epitome that the company’s strategy of maintaining exclusivity of its chipset and its brilliant engineering is working well for its success.
