Apple iPhone 9 to sport 5.28 and 6.46-inch OLED displays in 2018: Rumour

With days getting closer to the iPhone 8 unveiling, there have been several rumours, leaks and predictions around the Apple flagship. However, this time around, news about the 2018 Apple flagship smartphone has already cropped up. Though this could be a rumour, we could expect well-known sources from around the world to make early predictions.

MacRumours mentions that according to a new report that surrounds the Apple and Samsung supply chain deal for the 2018 Apple flagship, the next iPhone after iPhone 8, the iPhone 9, will launch with two OLED display sizes — a 5.28-inch and a 6.46-inch. The report comes in from The Investor, via The Bell, who stated that Samsung has been awarded the deal to supply OLED panels for the iPhone, which will probably make its entry into the iPhone 9 series in 2018.  

According to the report, the deal from Apple is to supply 80 million OLED screens for around three variants of the iPhone, one of which will allegedly feature on the iPhone 8 this year.

The two companies have signed a non-disclosure agreement on general conditions, said the report.

As for this year, Apple is said to be launching three iPhone 8 models, one of which will feature an OLED display while the other two will sport LCD screens.

Some sources also have mentioned that Samsung is presently working on a plant in South Chungcheong Province in Korea for the OLED production facilities, especially dedicated for the iPhone.
