Xiaomi will unveil a new smartphone that’s rumoured to be 5G capable at an event ahead of MWC 2019.
With the Mobile World Congress set to officially kick off on Monday, January 24, 2019, a few brands will be announcing their products on the cusp of the four-day-long affair. One such brand to display their products is Xiaomi and with their event set to kick off in the next few minutes, here’s what we can expect from the Chinese smartphone giant.
Xiaomi has already unveiled the Mi 9 and in all likelihood, the brand will show off the handset once more on the global stage. Apart from this, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G could also make its debut and it could be one of the first handsets in the world to come with this new network standard. Reports suggest that it will come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem inside and showcasing the device at the MWC event will be a huge advantage for the brand as several smartphone vendors such as OPPO and Huawei are expected to display their 5G devices as well.
Lastly, at the event, we may also see Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone and this is the perfect opportunity for them to get a one-up over Huawei who is also poised to announce their offering in this nascent smartphone category as well with the Huawei Mate X.
